The Miracle of the Moment

Early this year I claimed "The Miracle of the Moment" by Steven Curtis Chapman as my theme song for 2009. This song is all about savoring the moment, being happy about and thankful for where you are now. The words really resonated with me as I was struggling with the balance between waiting and wanting for our little girl far away and trying to live in the moment, which at that time was a moment of not knowing who exactly our little girl was, nor when our lives would be joined with hers. Less than two months after feeling like I was on the road to mastering the balance (which I had been working on for more than 2 years) we received our sweet surprise, the long awaited wonderful news that there was a little girl waiting for us in China.

Now the miracle of the moment is simply reveling in the new adventures, changes, challenges and JOYS that every moment with our little girl brings. Today was a splendid Saturday, our first "normal" Saturday back at home. We are past the jet lag, and we're sleeping, eating and getting on a routine. It's really awesome how we've adjusted thus far. We trekked out this morning to our favorite neighborhood coffee house where we enjoyed freshly brewed coffee, beautiful mountain views and the warmth of the Arizona sunshine. Later we hung out by the pool with Vida and Georgea. And this evening, James & I got some catch up time, after little Miss sleepy head went down. A perfect day, and I loved every miraculous moment.

Vida & Georgea's first car ride together. They did very well. Georgea loves Vida, and Vida is tolerating her new sister very nicely.
Cave Creek Coffee Company "C4", our favorite coffee hangout.

Patty-pat Vida.

Hmmmm, what is this delicious smelling drink?

Daddy shares willingly.

Georgea going for it. Vida wondering why she's in the background??

I love this shot because you can see Georgea's gorgeous eyelashes....so thick and long.

Sleepy girls on the way home from C4.

Back at home, so many changes. Our child safety pool fence went in earlier this week. It actually wasn't as bad as we had anticipated. It really doesn't obstruct our views and it's a necessary addition.

Daddy and his girl, so sweet.

The lean of love.

"Clapity clap." Corny, I know. But, Georgea is so smart. Whenever we say this, she starts clapping. For a little girl who had likely never heard any English 3 short weeks ago, she sure is catching on fast.

So beautiful with the sun shining on her brown skin.

Trying to teach her to hold her own bottle. Soon we'll be transitioning to a sippy cup, but one thing at a time.

I feel like I've done a lot of laughing lately. She makes me smile.

Vida, enjoying the view. The end of a perfect day.

Wow - it sounds like it's been an easy and quick transition for you guys! At three weeks we were still fighting the sleep and time zone issues - great work! So good to see you guys LIVING - that's the idea! (And a beautiful area of the country that you live it - I'm remembering why I used to backpack in NM abd AZ!)

Lots of joy for you guys!

hugs - aus and co.
