Sunday was an amazing first Father's day for all of us! We started the day with our first hike as a family of three (Vida unfortunately isn't allowed on this particular hike). We went to Pinnacle Peak and Daddy toted his girl on his back in our hiking backpack. Georgea LOVED it! It was so fun! She was looking around at all the beautiful sights, smiling, waving her arms and taking it all in. She really had a great time. This is super good news because James & I love to hike and it's part of life for us. Again, Georgea is just fitting in perfectly.
After our hike we went home and I cooked a big afternoon brunch for the new Daddy, and our baby girl. Georgea enjoyed everything that James & I were eating. She's transitioned really well to "grown up" food. She is not a picky eater at all & has yet to refuse anything we've given her.
We got so many good pictures that I had a hard time narrowing it down. Lots of photos of our beautiful hike, and then brunch afterward. We were able to capture lots of Georgea's sweet smiles. Happy girl with a full tummy!
We ended the day with a drive to a beautiful nearby lake. We unfortuantely left the camera behind. It was a gorgeous time of day and I would have loved to have captured some shots of that peaceful stroll along the water. All in all it was a perfect day. Happy Father's Day James....you are an amazing Husband and Daddy. We love you!
Starting out. James was a trooper. The backpack we chose is not very comfortable, but Georgea loved the experience. Would love to hear of any suggestions from any other hikers. Does anyone use an ergo carrier, or have another more comfortable method of toting a 20 pounder?

Happy Father's Day James!
Love, Love, Love the pics!
Sounds like the perfect day!
Happy Father's Day!
What a fun first Fathers Day for Daddy! The pics are beautiful, I love that big cactus photo.
I use the ergo on my back for mopping and cleaning and it really is comfortable. She doesn't sit up as high in it as that hiking backpack that Georgea is in, but she can see side to side.
Looks like a great time!!! What a happy girl!
Well first and foremost Dad to Dad - Happy Father's Day!! Fiather's days are best described as "Dad's getting to do what THEY want." In our case it was a third birthday party for the Mei mei! Second - and maybe more important - What an absolute doll youir daughter is! And so cool they way kids mold into their families - that's joy! Backpacks vs. carriers like the ergo - I'm a former backpacker spending most of my time in the Sangrae de Christos around Santa Fe, in the Pecos wilderness areas, some in the desert around Tuba City. The big plus to the backpack is that your daughter is 'off your back' and air moves all around both of you guys - but - I've yet to find one that is very comfortable after a couple miles and the more rugged the climb the worse that will get. Carriers like the ergo can be extremely comfortable - but - the child is in almost total skin to skin contact - and that can get hot in a hurry! In terms of carriers we LOVE the ergo over any that we have tried - we have two so that one can 'dry out' for a day if you work up a pretty good sweat. At least that was the plan - but after the next adoption they will probably become "his" and "hers" carriers! I'm sure that you have a couple "good" outfitters in your area - a 'good' one will be more than happy to let you experiment in the store (and maybe on a loan bases for an hour or two) until you find one that fits you well!
hugs - aus and co.
Looks like the perfect 1st Father's Day to me! Georgea is one happy girl on a full tummy isn't she :) The pictures are great.
